When Intel announces that one of their chips will be appearing in a plethora of netbooks, we can understand why those netbook manufacturers might be slow to update their sites. Especially when the new chip is dropping into netbooks that, for all intents and purposes, are new themselves. For example, it was only the beginning of August that we told you about HP’s Mini 5103, which –at the time– featured Intel’s single-core N455 or N475 processors.

The server market has been AMD’s bread and butter for the past few years, and it has been the place that the company has really remained competitive with Intel. AMD’s mobile strategy has mainly involved using versions of its server parts to target the low-cost laptop market, so the company has missed out on the netbook revolution of the past few years.

IDC predicts PC shipments to grow 20% in 2010

According to market research firm IDC, 2010 will see shipments of PCs rebound in 2010 and erase the terrible sales figures seen in 2009. Overall sales are expected to rise 19.8% YoY with a total of 354.8 million units shipped. Notebook sales are anticipated to be the largest contributor to higher sales with growth targeted at 28.6% versus the 8.2% of desktops

Pixel Qi 3qi wide-angle display gets video demo

Pixel Qi have been demonstrating the latest version of their 3qi display at Computex 2010 , complete with its wider viewing angles, and going by jkkmobile’s reaction the new screen is a success. As with previous versions, the new panel has indoor/outdoor functionality including a backlight-off mode for prolonging battery life, but it’s also much easier to see from the side judging by Pixel Qi’s demo prototypes.
